STRIATUM & GLOBUS PALLIDUS

This image is a diagram of a cross section of the human brain. Highlighted in one of the hemispheres is the striatum (in blue) and globus pallidus (in green). Due to the crosssectional view the striatum appears to be divided into two (the lower section is called the putamen and the upper is called the caudate nucleus). The globus pallidus is divided into two segments, the external segment (closest to the striatum) and internal segment.
