SUBTHALAMIC NUCLEUS & SUBSTANTIA NIGRA
The subthalamic nucleus (shown in yellow) and the
substantia nigra (in red) are also included in the
basal ganglia. The putamen (in blue) can also be seen in this
diagram. Although the subthalamic nucleus and substantia nigra
appear separate from the other basal ganglia components, they have a
clear anatomical relationship.
