The IS09 Conference Fund for Interspeech 2016

Overview

The IS09 Conference Fund has been established by the organisers of Interspeech 2009 (Brighton) to support attendance at Interspeech conferences by research students and early career researchers working at universities in the UK and Ireland.

Ten IS09 bursaries of £600 will be available for Interspeech 2016 in San Fransisco.

We regret that we cannot support attendance at satellite events because their 'notification of acceptance' dates are all after the Interspeech dates, and at different times.

Eligibility

To be eligible for one of these bursaries, you must:

  1. be working at a university in the UK or Ireland as either:
    • a research student (PhD or MSc) of any age;
    • an 'early-career' researcher or academic (you entered the academic profession less than five years ago);
    and
  2. have had a paper accepted for publication in Interspeech 2016.

Applicants who are eligible for ISCA/Interspeech 2016 grants are encouraged to apply to both ISCA and the IS09 conference fund to maximise their chances.

Applicants who have been awarded grants from this fund or ISCA grants in previous years will also be eligible to apply for an IS09 bursary. However, preference will be given to those who have not previously received funding from these sources.

How to Apply

Please email the following documents to Cassia Valentini, cvbotinh@inf.ed.ac.uk :

  1. A completed application form. This is very similar to the ISCA/Interspeech application form.
  2. A copy of the acceptance email(s) you have received from the Interspeech 2016 organisers.
  3. A letter of support (email is acceptable) from your supervisor (students) or the Director of your Laboratory (early-career researchers).
  4. A brief CV (three pages maximum) that includes a list of your other publications and details of other conferences, workshops that you have attended.
  5. A copy of the paper(s) to be published in Interspeech 2016.

The deadline for applications is 8 July 2016. A decision will be sent before 15 July 2016.
