The Rhein Fire will return to Dusseldorf next season having played the last two seasons away from its home whilst their original venue, the Rheinstadion was rebuilt. They will now play in the new LTU arena (cap. 51,500) from next spring.
The Hamburg Sea Devils have also decide on their new logo, a Devil's head. The logo was put forward by NFL Europe and was designed in New York.

Former Claymores' K, Paul McCallum (Claymores 96), had his home vandalised by angry Roughriders' fans after he failed to slot over a game winning kick in overtime during the semi-final of the Grey Cup. McCallum missed an 18yd chip shot and the Roughriders eventually lost out to the B.C.Lions, 27-25, in the first overtime playoff game since 1973. The Roughriders organisation has expressed its dismay at the behaviour of its fans.

Several NFL Europe players had an impact in the recent Broncos - Redskins preseason match. QB Mike Quinn (Fire 98) threw for a TD then a 2pt conversion late in the game to tie the match at 17-17 but QB Tim Hasselbeck (Thunder 02) lead a final drive which resulted in K Ola Kimrin (Galaxy 01-02, Centurions 04) slotting over the winning FG for the Redskins.

It sounds like the NFL are winding up to an NFL Germany (or perhaps NFL Europe-mainland) after all. Two articles have appeared in news reports recently, one from the NFL itself intimating that 'the league is looking into moving some of its franchises' and the other from www.sportbusiness.com hailing the success in Germany and claiming 'crowded markets dominated by soccer' affected its ability to get support elsewhere.

No improvement in the Claymores performance this week, despite having
comparable rush, pass and time of possession stats to the opposition,

Well Disneyland Paris, the epitome of American theme parks in Europe, didn't
show any NFL Europe games in their Sports bar, best I was offered was NCAA(?)
Basketball and the usual soccer fayre.
Having now returned to familiar
soil I see that terrestrial broadcasts are also non-existant this year in the
UK as well.
Its going to be a long season....
From the stats I am disconcerted by the Claymores' lack of a running game last
weekend, especially since the match was played in wet conditions (not the
best time to be throwing a ball). On the bright side it appears that we can
put up the passes with some confidence this time round.

From what I can work out the Fire view of the recent scrimmage suggests that
they were happy with their running plays and their offensive line, gaining at
least 4yds per play on each running attempt.
They have two American kickers competing for one spot and Mike Shafer is currently edging John Markam.
S Hakim Akbar is out, possibly for the season, with a knee injury
Two WRs failed physicals, Larry Foster and Dwain Goynes.
TE David Newman is also out.
They have gained WR Shockmain Davis and OT Chris Ziemann

For the Thunder it appears that QB Rohan Davey is staking his claim on a starting slot along with RB Ray Jackson.
FB Mike Malan(Claymores 03) is also making his presence felt with a recent
bust up with a Thunder LB.
The positions on Defense appear to be a little more closely fought with few
standouts at the moment
