The conference registration fee does not include accommodation, but here are some suggestions for a range of options.
Bed and breakfast accommodation from around £35 a night is available from Edinburgh First. This is mostly in the Pollock Halls student residences, very convenient for early morning runs on Arthur's Seat and about a 15-minute walk or 7-minute bus ride from the conference venue. Pollock Halls is about 1.5 miles (2.5km) south of the city centre.
Salisbury Green Hotel and Conference Centre, on the same Pollock Halls site (just along from the former St. Trinian's girls' school!), also provides bed and breakfast accommodation. Single rooms cost from £79 a night.
Closer to the city centre are Edinburgh Central Youth Hostel (choose Central Region and then Edinburgh Central), about a 15-minute walk or 7-minute bus ride from the conference venue. Costs £22 a night. There are a number of other hostels, for example Budget Backpackers, or look at sites offering a number of hostels from as little as £13 pounds a night in shared dorms.
There is a wide range of bed and breakfast and hotel accommodation in Edinburgh. The Visit Scotland website has a good search facility. Some hotels close to the Informatics Forum are the Ibis, about 7 minutes away, the Premier Inn (Edinburgh City Centre, Lauriston Place), which charges about £99 a night and is about 10 minutes away, and the Grassmarket Hotel. It is certainly worth looking at sites such as Hotel Club, Expedia, Lastminute.com and Grassmarket Hotels for the cheapest rates and widest availability.
