Towards Autonomous Robotic Systems

A Platform for the Robotics Community in the UK, Europe and Worldwide

Welcome to TAROS 2008, to be held in Edinburgh, September 1st - 3rd, 2008. The conference will take place in the Informatics Forum, the new building of the School of Informatics, University of Edinburgh.

TAROS is a platform for robotics researchers with a wide range of interests from the UK, Europe and worldwide. TAROS welcomes paper submissions on a wide range of topics related to the principles and practice of robotics.

TAROS welcomes senior researchers and research students alike, and specifically provides opportunities for research students and young research scientists to present their work to the scientific community.

This year there will be a special session on Personal and Service Robotics, and we would particularly welcome papers in this area. We are very pleased to be able to announce that Professor Roland Siegwart from EPFL's Autonomous Sytems Lab has agreed to be the invited speaker on this topic. We're also delighted that Professor Kasper Stoy from the University of Southern Denmark has agreed to give an invited talk on the subject of reconfigurable robots.

The Annual Meeting of the Virtual Research Centre in Personal Robotics takes place on Monday 1st September 2008 after the TAROS session, in the Informatics Forum.

In 2007, TAROS was hosted by the University of Wales, Aberystwyth.
