I am a Reader in Informatics, Edinburgh. My research interests include Machine Translation, Social Media, Machine Learning and large-scale processing of data (streaming algorithms, randomisation, Hadoop etc).

I'm speaking at the 3rd Lisbon Machine Learning School, July 24 -- 31 2013.. This will (again) be on Big Data and NLP.
Cross Project. This is a joint venture between Edinburgh and Glasgow and deals with real-time first story detection in Social Media.
