PHD STUDENTSHIP IN NATURAL LANGUAGE PROCESSING Natural Language Processing Group at the University of Edinburgh, School of Informatics The School of Informatics at the University of Edinburgh invites applications for a three-year PhD studentship starting in January 2018. The studentship is associated with the IARPA project MATERIAL (Machine Translation for English Retrieval of Information in Any Language). The student will be supervised by Dr. Mirella Lapata, and will work on a topic drawn from following research areas: o deep learning models for summarization o query-focused summarization o cross-lingual summarization o unsupervised summarization methods The successful candidate will have a good honors degree or equivalent in NLP, artificial intelligence, computer science, or a related discipline. He/she will have strong programming skills and previous experience in machine learning, deep learning, and/or natural language processing. The position is fully funded including stipend, tuition, travel, and equipment for students of any nationality.
