Many range sensors produce data sets where the sensor position is unknown.
Alternatively, data sets are acquired from different sources, where again
the sensor position is unknown.
UOE has developed a process based on an analysis of the depth discontinuities in the scene,
that estimates viewer position, accurate to a few millimetres in the Bornholm church
data set. An example of the estimated viewpoint in an elevated display of the
data is seen here:
