Research

My main interest is neural coding and measures for assessing the accuracy of neural codes. I am currently investigating the relationship between Fisher information and information theoretic measures in the context of population coding. Specifically, we aim to establish when Fisher and Shannon information agree as to the overall precision of a code and the stimuli that are best-encoded by neurons within a population.

The auditory system is another of my interests, and I am currently working in collaboration with Khaleel Razak and Aaron Seitz at UC Riverside on the precision and anatomical arrangement of cortical representations of auditory source localisation cues.
