I'm currently a EPSRC funded PhD candidate in the School of Informatics at the University of Edinburgh, where I am a member of the Institute for Language, Cognition and Computation. My supervisors are Dr Victor Lavrenko and Dr Miles Osborne.

My thesis investigates novel quantisation and projection schemes for approximate nearest neighbour search using hashing techniques. The outcome of my thesis will be methods that permit more accurate image/document retrieval over large-scale datasets where the database items are represented by compact binary codes. I have also previously worked within the fields of image and video retrieval.

I hold an MSc degree (in Informatics) from the University of Edinburgh and an MA degree (Computer Science and Management) from the University of Cambridge. I have extensive prior experience within industry and academia. More recently I have held the position of IT Analyst with Deutsche Bank, Research Assistant with CERN/UNOSAT and Research Assistant within the University of Edinburgh.
