Research Interests

I'm a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Laboratory of Foundations of Computer Science (LFCS), the School of Informatics, University of Edinburgh. I also hold a research fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng). I work on databases, with a particular interest in the fundamentals, design and optimisation of modern data systems. My broad research areas also include data management, data science, and the intersection between database and machine learning.

I have specifically been working on the following topics:

• In-database model explanation
• Transactions: transactional caching; transaction scheduling; graph transactions
• Data-driven query optimization: query optimisation under constraints; bounded evaluation; approximate query processing
• Graph computation: graph computing frameworks; graph pattern matching
• Data quality
