Most people use a very old way of telling computers how to do stuff, where they tell the computer exactly how to do the stuff. One new way is to tell the computer what stuff you want done, but not how to do it, and let the computer work out how to do it.

The old way is really fast on old computers, with a couple of big fast parts, but can be very hard to use on new computers with lots of small slow parts. On the other hand, the new way can be easier for telling new computers how to do things, but can make it much slower for computers to do things.

My work looks at how we can make the new way of telling computers what to do just as fast as the old way. I'm especially interested in using it on new computers, as people are using them more and more than old computers.
