I am a 2nd year PhD student at Institute for Language, Cognition and Computation (ILCC), University of Edinburgh under supervision of Prof. Mark Steedman. My research interest is to use Machine Learning methods for Natural Language Processing (especially, semantics). My PhD topic is about building entailment graphs to obtain form-independent semantics. The entailment graphs can be used for other tasks such as Knowledge Base Completion and Question Answering.

Before this (2013-2016), I was a PhD student at the Computer Sci & Engineering Department of University of Washington . I worked under supervision of Su-In Lee on learning Gaussian graphical models with structured sparsity and structured prediction methods for learning multi-word expressions and supersenses (joint work with Noah Smith). I also worked under supervision of Oren Etzioni and Hannaneh Hajishirzi on solving 4th grade arithmetic word problems.

In the summer 2014 I did an internship in Yahoo! Research working on modeling user behavior based on clickstream data. I have got my B.Sc. in Software Computer Engineering from Computer Engineering Department of Sharif University of Technology in 2010 and got a master degree in the same department in 2012 under supervision of Dr. Hamid Beigy .
