The School of Informatics, University of Edinburgh invites applications for a Research Associate position in the area of natural language processing.

The project seeks to develop and apply deep learning methods for the digitization and processing of articles in mathematics.

There is a lot of project flexibility, and the postdoctoral researcher will have much room for developing their own agenda under this broad topic.

The position is suitable for a candidate with a PhD degree and top-tier peer-reviewed publications in statistical natural language processing and/or machine learning. The successful applicant will have strong programming skills, and experience applying machine learning to text-related problems. Experience with syntactic or semantic parsing and deep learning methods is also desirable. The candidate is also expected to be capable of working independently, have strong communication skills, and to be able work in a team. The starting date is flexible, and can be as early as October 2018.

The initial appointment is for one year.
