Research Summary

I am a PostDoc the CLASSiC project at the School of Informatics, Edinburgh University where I am working under the supervison of Oliver Lemon.
I am also collaborating with the Interaction Lab at Heriot Watt University.

My general interest lies in the area of Spoken Dialogue Systems and statistical Machine Learning techniques, such as Reinforcement Learning. We apply those techniques to different aspects of Spoken Dialogue Systems, such as dialogue policy learning ("What to say") and Natural Language Generation ("How to say it"). A research statement can be found here.

I received a PhD from Saarland University in June 2008, where I was a member of the International Research Training Group for Language Technology and Cognitive Systems. My work was closely affiliated with the TALK project.

Before I took a MSc in Language Engineering at University of Edinburgh. I also have a MA in Information Science from Regensburg University.
