I joined Google DeepMind as a Research Scientist in April 2023. I lead a team called VOICES (Voices of all in alignment).

Before that, I was a full Professor at the School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences (MACS) at Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh since 2017. I directed the HWU NLP lab and served as Director for Ethics at the Edinburgh Centre for Robotics.

I am a co-founder of ALANA AI.

I am a Royal Society Leverhulme Senior Research Fellow.
