Music

I am a keen classical musician, having played the piano since the age of 9. While doing my DPhil in Oxford I discovered a passion for singing, which lead me to study on the Post Diploma Vocal Training course at London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2001/2002, under Prof. Susan McCulloch.

For next couple of years, I have led a dual life of academic and operatic singer, which led me to sing in the extra chorus of the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, in the London Voices (with whom I recorded the soundtrack of "The Lord of the Rings" and "The Passion of the Christ"), and to perform the role of Der Pfleger in Strauss's Elektra at the 2003 BBC Proms.

Climbing

I have been fortunate to be able to spend most of my childhood holidays in my grandma's home in Trentino, a beautiful spot in the eastern Alps. I have enjoyed outdoor activities in the mountains since a very early age, and since 1995 I have been a member of CAI, the Italian Alpine Club, and a keen mountaineer, particularly in the Dolomites. If you are interested in climbing and mountaineering, take a look at this site, which has a lot of nice pictures.

You can have a look at some pictures of me and my friends climbing in the Gallery.
