NASSLLI 2022 Reading: Mark Steedman CCG: An Introduction

I'll adjust the lectures to the needs of the group, drawing on the above much more discursive manuscript (which is a draft, not for circulation}, in place of a handout.

Chapters 1 and/or 2 are suggested as preparatory reading.

A possible sequence would be that the Five Lectures will correspond to Chs 2, 4, 7, 9 and 11--that is:

I: Chs.1-2: Categorial Grammar

II: Ch.4: Composition and Coordination

III: Ch.7: The Lexicalized Constructions

IV: Ch.9: Wh-Constructions

V: Chs.11-12: Symmetry and Asymmetry in Left- and Right-Extraction
