Definition:
Active Vision is the control of the optics and the mechanical structure of cameras to simplify the processing for computer vision.
Characteristics:
- Continuous operation: The system is always running.
- Information Filter: An active vision system acts as a "FILTER" for information.
- Real Time: To be useful, an active vision system must return its results within a fixed delay (which depends on the application domain)
- Control of Processing: Fixed delay response requires
limiting the data. This means restricting processing to a small region
of interest.
