September 2018: I have moved to Mountain View as a
research scientist at Google Brain! I maintain
an affiliation at the University of Edinburgh
and my research group at Edinburgh is still doing amazing work!
August 2017: We are starting an exciting new project on
Artificial Intelligence for Data Analytics at the Alan Turing Institute. Co-investigators are with Chris Williams (Edinburgh), Zoubin Ghahramani (Cambridge), and Ian Horrocks (Oxford). Please get in touch if you would like to know more or to collaborate.
July 2017: I have finally been able to publish my old code
for probabilistic inference in queueing networks
onto Github. This is the code from Sutton and Jordan, 2011, Annals of Applied Statistics.
The School is currently hiring many faculty. Tip: “Lecturer”

countries. (Dec 2016)
In conjunction with Padhraic Smyth (UC Irvine), Chris Williams (Edinburgh), Zoubin Gharamani (Cambridge), and James Geddes (Alan Turing Institute), we are organizing a NIPS 2016 workshop on Artificial Intelligence for Data Science. (December 2016)
I have been named a Faculty Fellow of the Alan Turing Institute, the UK national research institue for data science. (Sept 2016)
I am director of the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Data Science at the University of Edinburgh. (March 2016)
I have received an EPSRC grant on “LUCID: Clearer Software by Integrating Natural Language Analysis into Software Engineering” (2016-2019).
