Hi!

I'm Debasis Sadhukhan, a senior researcher at the newly founded Quantum Software Lab at the University of Edinburgh. My area of expertise includes quantum simulation, quantum advantage with NISQ-Era quantum computers and non-equilibrium dynamics of complex quantum systems.  

Currently, I am co-leading the Innovate UK project "Quantum Computing Platform for NISQ Era Commercial Application" together with Prof. Elham Kashefi. We are designing efficient techniques for quantum verification which can conclusively authenticate the final outcome of a quantum hardware, especially where no classical cross-check is available. 

I am actively involved in several academia - industry collaborations where we are trying to identify quantum advantage of real-life problems ranging from artificial drug discovery to quantitative finance. Although noise and the limited size of the current generation quantum hardware are still the bottleneck of quantum advantage, thanks to the variational quantum algorithms, we have shown that certain quantum advantage is still achievable for a restricted class of problems which is certainly a significant step towards the more powerful quantum technologies. 

During my 1st postdoc, I primarily worked on the non-equilibrium dynamics of long-range quantum systems while Ph.D. works primarily lie at the interface of quantum information and many-body physics where I borrow tools from quantum information theory to unveil interesting physics in disordered many-body systems. 

Beside Physics, I like to dabble in a few other subjects including Mathematics, Computer Science, History and Literature (mostly Bengali). I am a firm believer of open source software e.g. GNU/Unix/Linux. Apart of this, I love teaching. I was a part-time online tutor at TutorVista where I used to teach at +2/UG level. Also, I was a member of Harsha Club, a volunteer(mostly HRI students) based club of HRI to promote education of Jhunsi villagers and taught Mathematics to the school kids.
