Introduction

This handbook has been prepared on behalf of the School of Computer Science and the Laboratory for Foundations of Computer Science (LFCS) and has been approved by the Head of the Division of Informatics as well as the University Director of Health and Safety. The views and help of members of technical staff have also been sought in order to establish sound working practice whilst complying with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 in conjuction with the current edition of the 1993 University Health and Safety Policy. This handbook forms the safety policy for the School of Computer Science and LFCS. The handbook is reviewed each year when changes may be implemented to accommodate any changes to the Division's working environment or aquisition of any new equipment.
