Work involves a lot of sitting (at the computer, at meetings...), so in my free time I generally love physical activities like running, cycling and Karate. I dislocated my knee in Spring 2014, which meant taking a break for several months. But several months of physiotherapy can work wonders thankfully.
When running I usually aim to cover one of my three local routes in as short a time as possible. I'm an evening runner, and prefer off-road/cross-country - though that's not always practical in the Winter with the long Edinburgh nights, when I have to stick to roads.
As well as commuting to work by bike, I also like to take the kids on cycle rides along dedicated routes in and around Edinburgh.
For martial arts, I very much enjoy training at the excellent Edinburgh Shukokai Karate Club.
